Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Automation Scientist will be a subject matter expert in assay automation and support complicated automated systems for our science teams.
This role requires constant collaboration with scientists and engineers to ensure we are delivering the most efficient and robust automated protocols.
Will be leading automation projects and collaborate with end users, vendors and cross functional teams to:
a) Identify automation opportunities across different departments
b) Identify and implements automated solutions for specific needs
c) Collaborate with IT to validate instrument specific softwares
d) Adapts and develops automated assays in plate-based formats
e) Perform assays and train operators

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE

  • Works closely with Lab Sciences management to develop, maintain, track and execute the Lab Sciences automation strategy.
  • Working with scientists to adapt and optimize Ligand Binding Assays and Mass Spec into automated protocols.
  • Works in cross site teams to standardize automated platforms.
  • Troubleshoots and provides solutions for issues with automated platforms, as appropriate.
  • Identifies and manages technical relationships with vendors for automation development.
  • Act as a liaison between external vendors and cross functional site team members.
  • Participates in the qualification and validation of developed automated platforms for use in a GxP regulated environment.
  • Stays current in the advancements in automation.
  • Drives continuous improvement of automation solutions and standardization activities.
  • Initiating experimental design, verification and validation, QC development, and critical analysis of data
  • Providing training to users for new methods and for entry level Automation Associates
  • Preparing and presenting data at team meetings
  • Create and optimize plate reader methods
  • Programming Hamilton Microlab STAR liquid handlers and other automated technologies (plate washers, bulk dispensers, etc…)
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with IT to validate software and execute Test cases
  • Establish project timeline and ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Provides training to operators
  • Writes SOPs and user guides to ensure proper implementation
  • Coordinate multiple validation projects and coordinate their timely delivery with key stakeholders and external collaborators (team members, validation consultants, QA, IT, scientists, vendors).
  • Diagnose hardware/software issues & devise solutions in close collaboration with scientific personnel and vendors.
  • Coordinate the maintenance program for certain automated systems & applications (calibration, preventive maintenance, repairs), ensure the timely review of all service reports and the proper remediation of any discrepancies with internal procedures and external vendors.
