THESE ARE THE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES YOU WILL NEED:

  • A Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in cytogenomic and/or molecular genetic testing would be advantageous.
  • Recognised professional qualification in Clinical Cytogenetics or molecular genomics (e.g., MHGSA) or equivalent is desirable.
  • A high level of attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute to team performance.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation and equipment
  • Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety processes and procedures
    .

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Scientist at Genomic Diagnostics Queensland laboratory. This role offers an opportunity to advance your career in a collaborative, supportive and quality-focused team environment. Through training and mentorship, you will be able to further develop your genomics knowledge and skills.

We are seeking a Genomic Scientist who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:

  • Working as part of a collaborative team, on a comprehensive range of routine testing in all aspects of our laboratory’s genetic pathology service
  • Specimen preparation, analysis and reporting of referrals by cytogenomic and/or molecular technologies.
  • Perform designated testing procedures as outlined in methods and procedures, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
  • Participation in internal and external quality assurance programs.
  • Participation in continuing education.
  • Liaise with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
  • Collaborate with clinical laboratory members to in develop, validate, and implement genomic assays into a diagnostic setting, as per NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
