ABOUT US

MEDNA Scientific, through its Protein Innovation Center, is building next-generation tools in synthetic biology and biomanufacturing. To accelerate our R&D, we are establishing an in-house sequencing capability and seeking a motivated Scientist, Molecular Biology with hands-on experience in sequencing technology (Sanger, NGS), preferably Oxford Nanopore or similar platforms.
This role will focus on setting up and running multiplex sequencing workflows, implementing automation, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality sequencing data that supports our discovery and engineering efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, or related field with 2+ years of relevant industry/academic experience, OR Master’s degree with relevant training.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing platforms; ONT experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong molecular biology skills, including nucleic acid extraction, library prep, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with multiplex barcoding and high-throughput sequencing projects.
  • Exposure to workflow automation (liquid handlers, automated library prep).
  • Familiarity with sequencing data formats and basic bioinformatics tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and operate in-house sequencing workflows, with a focus on multiplexed sequencing and high-throughput sample processing.
  • Develop and optimize protocols for library preparation, barcoding, and sample QC.
  • Contribute to automation solutions for sample prep and sequencing.
  • Work closely with synthetic biology and computational teams to design experiments and support downstream data analysis.
  • Maintain SOPs, QC standards, and laboratory records.
  • Train and support team members on sequencing workflows.
