Description
What we do Cambrium is a molecular intelligence company engineering advanced materials that outperform. From personal care to textiles, mobility to home care, we design and manufacture materials that deliver real results today and for generations to come. Our platform brings together molecular intelligence and living systems to design and produce enzymes, polymers, and peptides at scale, unlocking performance characteristics that traditional chemistry could never access - specifically within polymers. We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity. We consider all applications equally regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or gender identity. We strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech to apply, and we can help with immigration. Your role We are looking for a Scientist - Strain Engineering, who will be responsible for building and screening microbial production strains and preparing them to be scaled. This position is a parental leave cover with a 7-months fixed-term contract starting October 2026. Your responsibilities: Manage strain engineering projects from experimental design and wet-lab execution to in silico data analysis. Run high-throughput screenings of strain libraries for the production of recombinant molecules, such as peptides, enzymes and structural proteins. Improve strain performance and support the up-scaling of commercial production strains. Support the bioprocess team by running controlled fermentations at lab-scale. Support and guide junior team members. Collaborate with computational engineers to enhance platform tools and manage large datasets from high-throughput screenings. Ensure data integrity across screening campaigns and conduct data analysis to drive informed decision-making. Present and communicate your work on a regular basis to internal and external stakeholders. Align business goals and timelines with strain engineering resource allocation. Your profile Must haves PhD, or MSc with 3+ years of industry experience, focused on developing microbes for recombinant production of proteins and enzymes. Strong experience with molecular biology techniques. Strong experience with yeast biology (experience with Pichia is a plus). Experience with high-throughput techniques and lab automation. Proficient in the use of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Nice to haves Experience with controlled fermentations in bioreactors. Understanding of both computational biology and machine learning methodologies. Experience with analytical methods such as HPLC or MS. What we offer In addition to a competitive salary, you can expect the following: Flexible working hours Learning & Development Programme for all our team members Urban Sports Club Membership Subsidized lunch and impassioned lunch discussions Regular team events The opportunity to be part of our journey to a future of advanced materials that outperform
