Angel Kids is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe, to join our team located at our corporate office in Jacksonville.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Medical Terminology, through coursework or experience.
  • Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Legible handwriting and ability to accurately record information.
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an Accredited College/University and 6 months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or other health science related concentrations
  • Over 6 months scribing experience in medical settings, either ED or primary care

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
  • Patient medical history and physical exam
  • Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
  • Physiciandictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for selfcare and followup
  • Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician
  • Make copies of ALL prescriptions given to Patients
  • Scan everything copied, along with whatever paperwork asked to scan
  • Dictation/faxing/phone calls and clerical tasks.
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record.
  • Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Spot mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and check to correct the information in order to reduce errors. All addenda must be signed off by a physician.
  • Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record.
  • Alert physician when chart is incomplete.
  • Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and for keeping patient information confidential.

OTHER DUTIES

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day. May be required to travel between offices, as needed for provider scheduling.
