We are seeking a skilled and certified Scrum Master to support software development and digital modernization initiatives for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with VA policies, security protocols, and agile best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5+ years experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment
  • Experience working with federal government clients, ideally within the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with VA platforms, systems, or programs (e.g., VistA, EHRM, VA.gov modernization)
  • SAFe certification (e.g., SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist)
  • Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and federal IT security policies
Responsibilities
  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams supporting VA programs
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies: Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement
  • Remove impediments and shield the team from external interruptions to ensure successful delivery
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of product goals, priorities, and backlog
  • Foster a high-performing team culture based on trust, accountability, and transparency
  • Monitor team performance metrics and coach the team toward greater Agile maturity
  • Ensure adherence to VA Agile practices, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with VA leadership, technical teams, and contractors to align on project goals and timelines
  • Support SAFe or other scaled Agile practices as appropriate for enterprise-level delivery
