You’ll join the Build Manager team, which is focused on increasing submarine production through close collaboration with multiple functions. You will be involved in the setting of the Build Contract across the four boats and monitoring the delivery of the construction phase whilst holding the main build contractor (BAES) to account for their committed responsibilities. You will be part of a team within an Alliance construct working with and alongside colleagues from the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), BAE Systems and Rolls Royce.
As a key member of the team, you’ll report to the Build Programme Manager and contribute to the delivery of critical programme outputs. Your work will involve close collaboration across the Alliance to ensure effective programme outcomes.
Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering projects’ outputs within the performance/cost/time envelope for a semi-complex project, multiple simple projects, or complex control accounts.
  • Ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient means of delivery, whilst mitigating risk and leveraging opportunities.
  • Supporting an open, honest, no blame culture. Actively highlighting failures and shortfalls positively and drawing through LFE into the projects or control accounts, advising on mitigations, and engaging with Delivery Manager to mitigate wider occurrence.
  • Embedding and adhering to all governance and policy and enable the required compliance throughout their team, ensure appropriate challenge, and gain approval to deviate when necessary.
  • Regularly meeting the customer to understand the objective, requirements, and the means of acceptance for all projects.
  • Delivering project requirements within the performance/cost/time envelope. Sustaining and leveraging value through the monitoring and management against commitments (products and services) and meet our own obligations under the contract/agreement.
  • Meeting budgets, maintaining schedules, and delivering scope in line with the project requirements.
  • Accounting for all monthly, in year, and longer-term accounting periods and leading to ensure the wider financial (and resource) profiles are driven from the activities in the project schedule and Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Leading the construction (through the Project Controls Function) of the Performance Measurement Baseline for the project or control account.
  • Proactively supporting career management and the wider development of the Project Management function and the other Project Managers within it.
