SEA FREIGHT OPERATOR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· A full UK Driving Licence or equivalent
· Prior experience in sea freight operations, particularly in cross trade, is highly desirable.
· Familiarity with key shipping documentation, including House Bill of Lading (HBL) and Master Bill of Lading (MBL), is a significant advantage.
· Experience in import or export operations is also valuable, with a willingness to cross-train in different areas of sea freight.
· Strong knowledge of sea freight processes and logistics operations.
· Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
· Proficient in using freight management software and tools.
· Oversee movement of goods between non-originating countries, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
· Coordinate sea freight process (booking, transport, documentation) ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
· Work with overseas agents, suppliers, and customers for cost-effective operations.
· Ensure shipments stay on schedule, resolving any delays or issues during transit.
· Prepare and review key documents (HBL, MBL), ensuring compliance and accuracy.
· Ensure cargo meets export/import regulations and necessary certifications.
· Maintain accurate, up-to-date shipment records.
· Serve as primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment status and resolving issues.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships for high satisfaction.
· Coordinate with internal teams to efficiently resolve issues.
· Track shipments and address issues to ensure timely delivery.
· Optimise processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service.
· Collaborate with teams to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
· Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on regulations and best practices in sea freight and cross trade.
· Receive additional training in import/export procedures as needed to adapt to evolving business needs.
