Seamer Mechanic Location: Effingham, SC, 29541 Department: Maintenance Hours: 6PM-6:30AM ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Must follow all safety regulations required by Company and OSHA. * Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. * Have a clear understanding of the production process and maintenance requirements of the equipment in the area. * Complete tasks without assistance. * Lead a crew of an area and be a mentor to less knowledgeable mechanics. * Make decisions to effectively improve the process and/or make repairs without assistance. * Initiate troubleshooting skills to improve the process and/or make repairs. * Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straight edges. * Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitor compliance. * Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; and establishing personal networks. * Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. * Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. * Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. * Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. * Work closely with the Lab requirements to troubleshoot proper adjustments needed on Seamer. * Follow Spec Sheets for the product/can size being run and adjust the seamer properly. * Learn Seamer mechanics and proper function of the machine. * Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. * Have a working understanding of food safety requirements as outlined in BRC, SQF, and USDA. * Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. * Fill out Daily Maintenance Form. * Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate with others orally. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. ```
