This individual contributor position serves as a key contributor to our fall harvest operations. Working from August – October, this role will employ hand and machine harvesting methods as well as gain exposure to new crop varieties, breeding materials, and emerging agricultural practices.

Responsibilities
  • Efficiently complete seed cleaning, seed treatment, and set-up of seeding envelopes.
  • Safely operate small plot field equipment such as tractors, tillage tools, combines, and swathers.
  • Adhere to driving laws and safety standards when moving equipment between locations.
  • Utilize hand harvest methods for selfing/pollination bags and tented seed production.
  • Actively follow safety procedures, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Assist in fall land preparation activities, including application of herbicides and fertilizer.
  • Perform routine equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Timely complete tasks as assigned from technicians, agronomists, and plant breeders to meet business objectives.
  • Local travel (10% or less) may be required.
