Description Job Title: Seasonal - Assistant Camp Director Schedule: Part-Time Flexible – May 2026Full-Time 40+hrs/week – June-August 2026Status: Full-Time SeasonalY Grade 8, Salary: $21.37/hour Revision Date: 04/2026Reports to: Sr. Dir of Youth DevelopmentProbation: Subject to Montana statutory introductory (probationary) periodkladhnakldhakldhkladhkahklashdklashdlkashdklah POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for the organization and delivery of quality summer camp programs at the Missoula YMCA. The Assistant Camp Director reports to the Senior Director of Youth Development. The Assistant Camp Director manages staff scheduling and development; program supplies, equipment, and curriculum; transportation; and quality across all sites. The Assistant Camp Director should have a deep passion for youth; a high level of energy; strong management and organizational skills; grit; and work well under pressure. Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In a part-time capacity, in preparation for summer: work with “camp team” to create cohesive camp vision for quality programming & safety in all YMCA camps; plan curriculum for Day Camps, Curiosity Camps, Adventure Camps, and Teen Camps; collect and organize supplies & equipment; foster collaborative relationships with community partners; interview & hire camp staff; plan and implement camp training. During summer months, serve as Assistant Camp Director for Day Camps, Curiosity Camps, Adventure Camps, and Teen Camps. Responsibilities include: the safety of all children in the YMCA’s care; scheduling and supervising camp counselors; preparing rosters, camp schedules, lesson plans, equipment, & supplies; transporting participants in YMCA vehicles; organizing camp events; monitoring camp billing; and communicating with participant families. As a manager, support staff with: open communication; staff meetings; training opportunities; site checks; open office hours; shifts worked alongside frontline staff, and seasonal/annual performance reviews. Verify and submit bi-weekly time records to business office for payroll. Provide exemplary member service to YMCA members & program participants' families: assisting with registration, billing, schedule changes, and questions; positively interacting with families of program participants regarding individual children's behaviors; and developing methods of modifying inappropriate behavior for optimal experiences in programs. With a forward-thinking lens, lead out in the organization: improving quality of programs, materials, and practices year after year and by building/maintaining community partnerships. Ensure quality & safety are always at the forefront of all youth programs. Lead by example and hold staff accountable to maintain YMCA quality and safety standards. · Completes required child sexual abuse prevention training, comply with legal and ethical obligation as a mandatory reporter of suspected child abuse and cooperate fully with any investigation of such abuse Perform other duties as assigned Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Preferred – Bachelor’s degree (B.A.); OR three or more years related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience Required – must have current CPR or obtain within first 30 days of employment · Required – Valid driver’s license with insurable driver’s record Experience: Preferred – Experience in supervising and managing others Preferred – Experience in a leadership role in a youth serving organization · Required – Experience working with children WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other staff members, leaders, volunteers, members, participants, parents and the general public · Ability to maintain confidentiality, a high degree of tact and discretion is required · Interpret and enforce all safety and health regulations Ability to respond to emergency situations Effective conflict resolution skills and an ability to exercise sound judgment and handle conflicts in a timely and professional manner Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs Versatility, flexibility, and ability to work enthusiastically within constantly changing priorities Ability to work within the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility · Ability to work with limited supervision Ability to meet minimum requirements and perform functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to communicate clearly to all children, families, members and company personnel ?
