Company Description The Seasonal Assistant position is responsible for ad-hoc support of our daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of hydroponic systems at GetBlok Farms, LLC at different times of our season. This role ensures that crops are cultivated efficiently, equipment is properly maintained, and food safety standards are met in accordance with USDA Harmonized GAP+ requirements. GetBlok Farms is a technology leader in various aspects of technology innovation, including Agriculture Technology ("AgTech"). In our pursuit of bringing the latest technology to rural and disadvantaged areas of the world, we are actively hiring team members local to our innovation centers. Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, located in Beaver County, Southwestern PA, is our pilot for implementing hyper-local, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable hydroponic produce year-round. GetBlok Farms pursues the mission to introduce a high-quality and reliable source of nutrition for local communities. Job Description As a Seasonal Assistant, your role is to assist our daily operations as needed in support of surge and seasonal demands. This may entail crop cultivation and care in our Totally Controlled Environment (TCA) farm, as well as maintenance activities in support of crop operations. Flexibility of duties is critical, as our operations is dynamic in support of our customer base. The right candidate is dynamic and able to handle different duties through the day/week. We are seeking enthusiastic candidates who have exceptional attitude, and a relentless aptitude for learning new things. This position is primarily for Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesdays supporting: Harvesting specific crops in preparation for same-day harvest and delivery. Performing maintenance duties for our farm equipment, which includes but not limited to: Separating farm grow media panels Sorting and preparing farm grow media for cleaning Power washing grow panels Re-assembling clean grow panels and media Preparing and packaging orders for deliveries. General assistance of farm activities both at farm and off farm at our headquarters. Qualifications This position is entry level, but experience with farming and controlled environment agriculture is desired. Although entry level, we expect each and every employee to comply with the following requirements: Qualifications & Skills Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized protocols. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active setting. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and cultivation methods. Good communication skills and ability to address workflow issues with management. Adopt and comply with all food safety requirements, including USDA Harmonized GAP+ standards. Consistently follow PPE requirements for food and chemical safety. Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to farm sanitation practices to prevent contamination. Operate system machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to work unsupervised for short periods of time. Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures. Willingness to raise issues with supervisors and management. Reliable transportation to/from work. Additional Information Physical & Work Environment Requirements Reliable and consistent attendance. Agility and the ability to change tasks as needed based on the needs of the system. Ability to lift 50 lbs. intermittently. Timely completion of tasks as assigned.
