Worker Type: Status Type: FLSA: Pay Range: Hourly Non-Exempt $16.90 – $20.50 Supervisory Responsibilities: None Essential Functions: Duties/Responsibilities Department set-up: worktables, clean repaired pallets, clean dividers, pallet slipcovers, anti-fatigue mats, packaging materials, trash cans, dirty laundry containers, edible and inedible totes, and racks, etc. Responsible for identifying and preventing foreign objects from contaminating products, i.e., condensation, plastic, metal, glass, wood, etc. Product Integrity –Know the difference between a foul spoiled odor and a gassy odor. (Do not use meat that has a foul spoiled odor, contact Quality Assurance (QA). Frozen and Fresh patties should be flat and have a uniform shape (round, oval, homestyle, smashed, puck, etc.), an even thickness from side to side, no meat deposits, no holes, no warping, no lip, and an even score (not too deep) if applicable. Frozen patties should be frozen solid upon exiting the Individually Quick-Frozen (IQF) tunnel. Fresh patties shall be placed in vacuum cups carefully as to not damage the shape of the patties. Notify your supervisor or QA staff of non-conforming products. Standing the entire shift of 8 hours including overtime in a cold environment. Palletize cases weighing up to 60 lbs. Pallets should be clean and free of debris such as blood, dirt, and meat scraps. Pallets should not have any broken wood, loose or missing boards, or exposed nails. Place slip covers on pallets prior to palletizing if applicable. Verify stacking pattern and stack height with customer/order specifications. Labels always facing to the outside. Cases should be stacked neatly. Cases should be clean, applicable dates and labels applied centered evenly. Using shrink wrap tightly hand wrap finished pallets, top to bottom. Use Canopy system to track and apply product lot numbers to finished product. Responsible for accurate pack dates on primary and secondary packaging, dates must be legible and general label information correct. Product net weights. (Line Supervisors and Leads) Metal detection machines. (Patty Machine Operators) Housekeeping according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) policy. Work areas should always be kept clean and orderly. Pick up trash and contaminated products during periods of stand-by time. Remove towels from work area. Complete documentation according to instruction and training if applicable. End of shift clean-up: remove all trash from floors; meat scraps, paper scraps, pallet fragments, film scraps, rubber gloves, etc. Remove pink steak paper from totes and remove patty paper from outside gondolas. Empty all trash cans into large trash bins, last department working will take large trash bin outside. Remove all unused pallets and dividers, place in pallet warehouse. Empty contents of inedible totes into tallow cans, spray with denaturant, place lid on container. If tallow containers are full introduce an empty container form outside. Clean, disinfect, and cover designated equipment. Remove from facility any unused packaging material. Carefully clean wrap covers, computer screens, designated equipment control panels, designated motors and wrap or cover. Wipe down/clean electric pallets jacks before charging. Make sure all towels, smocks, aprons, and cotton gloves are in the laundry barrels. Boxing: Once bagged patties exit the sealer, place bags in master case. Make sure zip-lock bags are sealed properly. Seal any unsealed bags using the manual sealer. Recycle bags missing pack dates (all bags must have a pack date). Remove any underfilled bags. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Good communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Detail oriented and thorough. Ability to learn various labels and boxes. Ability to lift to 60 lbs. Ability to learn safety guidelines when working with machinery and equipment. Ability to learn and recognize safety hazards and proper use of various types of machinery, equipment, and (PPEs) Personal Protective Equipment. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing, Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 60 pounds at a time. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Preferred 2 or more years in packing or palletizing.
