Title of Position: Seasonal, Day Camp Facilitator Start Date: One position starts on May 25, 2026, one position starts on June 22, 2026 End Date: August 21, 2026 Hours of work: Typical hours for this position will be Monday to Friday between 8:00am-5:00pm, with possibility of evening or weekend shifts for Town of Devon events. This position requires the ability to work a maximum of 40 hours per week, with modified hours prior to camps starting. Schedule details: For May and June you will be working out of the Town Office doing training, skill development, and planning for the camps (35 hours per week in May & June). July and August hours will be spent running the day camps (40 hours per week), with the wrap-up week from August 17-21 being 35 hours per week. This position will run a kid’s activity for the following events: Pride by the River (May 30 or June 13), Devon Days Kick Off BBQ (June 3) and Canada Day (July 1), and will assist with our Leaders in Training program on an evening or weekend.   Salary range: $16.68 – $21.40 (hourly), starting wage is dependent on experience Classification title:  Recreation Service Provider Department: Community Services Reports to: Community Programs & Events Coordinator Posting date: January 15, 2026, 4:00 p.m. (MST) Closing date: February 9, 2026, 4:00 p.m. (MST) Number of openings:  2 – Seasonal Work location(s):  Devon Community Centre, 1949 Building & Town Office (1 Columbia Ave. W., Devon, Alberta) Town of Devon Position Description Title of Position:  Day Camp Facilitator The Day Camp Facilitator assists with organizing and implementing summer day camp programs that provide learning and recreational opportunities for children and early youth in Devon. This position provides a leadership role through implementing the day camps and working with program volunteers. Key Responsibilities Responsibility 1: Implementation of day camps * Ensure organization and readiness of camps daily * Create fun and engaging moments for participants to enhance their camp experience * Ensure children’s safety while attending the programs * Provide support to program participants during challenging moments * Interact with parents of participants and answer questions * Supervise and ensure safety of participants on field trip * Provide an engaging camp environment where the children feel a sense of belonging and are able to participate in themed activities no matter their ability. Responsibility 2: Volunteer coordination * Attend a Leaders in Training session to meet and establish a relationship with volunteers * Assist in evaluating volunteers throughout & at the end of the summer * Plan a volunteer recognition for the end of the summer Responsibility 3: Health and Safety Protocols * Identify potential safety concerns during camp programs * Implement safe work procedures * Fill out proper forms when needed (i.e. incident forms) * Ensure First Aid kit is stocked with appropriate and current items * Follow all current Government of Alberta health protocols Responsibility 4: Evaluation of Programs * Evaluate all summer programs identifying areas of success and areas for improvement * Make recommendations for following year Responsibility 5: Obtain Career Related Experience * Check in with supervisor once per week and discuss successes, areas for improvement, and identify areas of support * Find opportunities to take a leadership role in the day camps with supervision from Day Camp Programmer * Establish leadership skills by working with and evaluating summer volunteers * Assist with Town of Devon event activities, specific to children and youth.  Qualifications Education:  * Grade 12 Diploma  * Enrollment in post-secondary education in an applicable degree program (ie. Recreation Administration, Physical Education, or Education) will be seen as an asset * Standard First Aid, and CPR level C * Training in High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development will be seen as an asset. Experience:  * Experience working or volunteering with children and children’s programming * Demonstrated experience in program facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills. * Time management and priority settings skills * Ability to take initiative on projects related to summer camp programs * Ability to work well in an individual and team environment * Satisfactory Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Persons Check must be provided prior to starting.
