Position Title: Grounds Maintenance Crew Member         Supervisor: Grounds Maintenance Manager Employee Status:  Seasonal, Full Time and Part Time Exemption: Hourly, Non-Exempt Location:  On-site (Shelburne Farms: 1611 Harbor Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482) Start & End Date:  July 1  - October 31       Salary Range: $17 - $19/hour  Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm Who We Are Shelburne Farms is an education nonprofit on a mission to inspire and cultivate learning for a sustainable future.  We realize our mission by integrating three key areas of activity: our programs, place, and products [https://shelburnefarms.org/about]. We are looking to you and the Buildings & Landscape team to help maintain our grounds, roads and trails to ensure visitors and guests can continue to enjoy all that Shelburne Farms has to offer.  You will directly support our mission and carbon drawdown goals as we operate electric commercial lawn mowing equipment  [https://shelburnefarms.org/blog/mowing-update-reducing-our-carbon-lawn-print]and adhere to the Raise the Blade efforts. What You’ll Do * Operate a work truck and trailer to load and unload mowing and trimming equipment. * Mow & trim lawns and road sides using electric equipment. * Tree and shrub maintenance including pruning and installation. * Seasonal road maintenance repairs. * Garbage, composting, and recycling services. * Special event support including ( Set up, break down, parking and clean up). * Maintaining equipment and vehicles, in a safe and use-full condition. Core Qualifications  * Age 18 years or older due to motor vehicle driving and power-driven machine operation. You will only need to drive farm equipment and vehicles and you do not need to provide your own vehicle. * Must have a valid driver’s license. * Able to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions Additional Valued Qualifications  * Experience operating commercial grounds maintenance equipment is helpful but not required. Work Environment & Physical Demands * Work outdoors in all weather conditions for 90% of the time. * Move up and down a ladder up to 8 feet. * Moving while carrying items that weigh up to 75 lbs. * Operate a sit-on lawn mower for up to an 8 hour shift. * Operate a walk-behind mower for up to an 8 hour shift. * Operate other hand tools and mechanical equipment using safety precautions.
