Location: Waypoint Waterfront, Sanford, ME Season: June through Labor Day Waypoint is seeking a dependable, safety‑focused Seasonal Lifeguard to support daily operations at our waterfront throughout the summer. The waterfront is open to Waypoint employees and their families, as well as Waypoint members when accompanied by staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, values teamwork, and is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment. What You’ll Do Monitor swimming areas and oversee all waterfront activity Enforce safety rules and agency policies Supervise the use of water equipment and support boating activities Assist with general waterfront operations and respond to safety concerns Provide clear communication and direction to participants of all ages What We Offer Schedule flexibility: We understand summer availability varies and are open to discussing what you need Paid certifications: For the right candidate, Waypoint will cover the cost of lifeguard certification and the boat safety certification course A supportive, mission‑driven team environment Required Competencies, Skills & Abilities Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to understand and follow directions Strong work ethic and reliability Willingness to follow all agency policies and procedures Willingness to attend mandated state and/or agency training Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with participants and staff Certifications (Required or Willing to Obtain): Lifeguard certification Basic CPR/First Aid certification Boat Safety course completion Preferred Qualifications Experience and comfort operating watercraft Experience working with adults or children with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) or autism Physical Requirements Ability to walk over varied terrain and access different waterfront locations Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to speak clear English to convey important safety information Ability to hear at normal speaking levels to receive detailed verbal communication Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance Retirement Plan Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Employer Paid Short Term Disability Employer Paid Life Insurance and AD&D Critical Illness and Accident Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts
