Status: Part Time Job Purpose: The Rental Technician Lead is responsible for providing guests with an exceptional rental experience, ensuring safe and proper equipment setup, and assisting with the overall management of the rental shop. This role serves as a key operational and training resource for the rental team and directly supports the Rental Department Supervisor in daily operations, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. The Lead will be a primary point of contact for internal departmental coordination. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Honor Commitments: Ensure all rental staff maintain proper certifications and proficiency in equipment testing and record-keeping protocols. Implement and enforce industry best practices for binding adjustments, equipment maintenance, and overall shop operations to ensure guest safety and equipment longevity. Regularly review rental shop standards to verify store presentation and inventory control goals are being met. Work closely with Customer Services, Guest Services, and the Snowsports Director to provide input on scheduling and staffing levels appropriate for daily and group volume. Communicate regularly with other departments including lift maintenance, snowsports, tickets, ski patrol, human resources, and marketing. Create Positive Experiences: Greet guests, ensure accurate completion of rental forms, and provide the proper boot fit and equipment recommendations (ski/board length, binding settings) based on skill level. Assist the Rental Department Supervisor with daily operational flow, ensuring efficient and high-quality service during peak periods. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, ensuring proper storage and staging of all equipment. Facilitate large group volume preparation and execution to the highest standard, participating in weekly departmental and interdepartmental meetings as needed. Foster Lifelong Learning: Train and mentor new and existing Rental Technicians on all standard operating procedures (SOPs), including guest interaction, equipment fitting, safety checks, and point-of-sale systems. Act as the go-to technical expert on binding set-up, equipment repair, tuning, and waxing techniques, overseeing the quality of work performed by the team. Exhibit Pioneer Spirit: Develop and maintain excellent public relations with existing and prospective vendors as a representative of Marquette Mountain. Demonstrate Good Stewardship: Coordinate with the Supervisor to manage inventory audits, loss prevention strategies, and accurate accounting of daily revenues and expenses. Perform and oversee the waxing and tuning of Skis/Snowboards and check returned rentals for damage. Other Duties as Assigned: Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and undertake additional responsibilities as required, reflecting our commitment to flexibility and responsiveness in meeting business objectives. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of three years of experience in the ski area industry, with a focus on rental shop operations and equipment maintenance. Prior experience in a lead, supervisory, or training role is highly preferred. Exceptional leadership, coaching, and strong communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan ahead and manage a team's workflow. Ability to work manual labor in all weather conditions. Deep knowledge of ski/snowboard ability levels and industry-leading safety standards. Skilled in the proper and safe use of all equipment, tools, products, and materials relating to the department. Licenses & Certifications: Current and Complete Binding Certificate is required. Technology & Equipment: Proficiency with Binding Testing Equipment, Belt Sanders, and Wax Irons.
