Job Purpose: The rental technician is responsible for outfitting guests with rental equipment and explaining its safe use, while also assisting with the upkeep of current inventory. Communicate regularly with other departments including lift maintenance, snowsports, tickets, ski patrol, human resources, marketing, and recreation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Greet guests as they enter the rental shop Ensure that guests accurately complete rental forms Find the proper boot fit for each customer to create positive slope experiences Recommend ski/board length and make sure bindings are set correctly for skill level Provide formal and informal feedback to managers regarding inventory loss/gain, loss prevention strategies, and inventory audits Assist the management team to ensure accurate accounting of daily inventories, revenues and expenses Review rental shop weekly to verify store and inventory control standards are being achieved and financial/loss prevention goals are being met Participate in weekly departmental and interdepartmental meetings as needed in order to plan and execute large group volume to the highest standard Work with Customer Services, Guest Services and Snowsports Director in ensuring that scheduling and staffing levels are appropriate for group and daily volume Develop and maintain excellent public relations with existing and prospective vendors as a representative of Winter Park Check returned rentals for damage Maintain cleanliness of the shop and proper storage of all equipment Waxing and tuning of Skis/Snowboards All other duties as assigned The above list reflects the general details necessary to describe the principle and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of two years experience in the mountain bike or ski area industry Strong communication skills Organizational skills with ability to plan ahead Ability to work manual labor in all weather conditions Knowledge of ski/snowboard ability levels Skilled in the proper and safe use of all equipment, tools, products, and materials relating to the department Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent Experience and/or Training: Preferred two years experience Licenses/Certificates: Complete Binding Certificate Technology/Equipment: Binding Testing Equipment, Belt Sanders, and Wax Iron Physical and mental demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
