Description Belstra Farm and Garden is a multi-site retail company specializing in farm supplies and garden essentials. Belstra is committed to providing affordable, high-quality items for all our customers’ needs. Our livestock feeds and garden plants are manufactured and grown locally here in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is searching for a self-motivated, detail-oriented cashier for our DeMotte location. The person must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): Plant care (learn the proper watering technique, fertilizing, etc.) Deadheading of flowers Unloading delivery trucks and sorting of plants Signage Housekeeping of all areas, plants, and landscaping material is kept Overall willingness to learn about lawn and garden Cross-train to support other areas as needed Requirements Skills and Requirements (included but not limited to): Regularly required to talk and listen when interacting with customers and other employees Ability to work alone or as a team Ability to work weekends and increased seasonal hours Strong communication skills Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds Withstand exposure to seasonal weather conditions (hot, cold, etc.) This position requires walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, etc. Ability to stand for long periods Education and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D Previous retail experience preferred, but not required Experience and knowledge in farm or garden products preferred, but not required Safety & Training Requirements: Employees in this role are required to complete and maintain the following safety trainings, as applicable: General New Hire Safety Training Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Requirements

Responsibilities

Primary duties involve plant care, including watering and deadheading flowers, alongside unloading delivery trucks and sorting plants. The associate will also be responsible for maintaining signage and ensuring the cleanliness of all areas, plants, and landscaping materials.
