Description Seasonal Tax Assistance Program Specialist (Jan–Apr) Temporary | January through April Supervisor: Medicare and Tax Assistance Program (TAP) Lead Make a Difference This Tax Season LIFE Senior Services’ Tax Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible adults age 60 and older meet their tax responsibilities by providing free, basic tax return preparation with electronic filing. We are seeking a Seasonal Tax Assistance Program Specialist to support this important service during our busiest months. This temporary, seasonal position plays a key role in ensuring seniors feel welcomed, informed, and supported as they access tax assistance services. Position Summary The Tax Assistance Program Specialist supports TAP operations by screening clients for eligibility, scheduling tax preparation appointments, serving as an intake greeter, and entering program data into LIFE Senior Services’ reporting database. This role also assists the Program Coordinator and provides guidance to volunteer schedulers to help the program run smoothly and efficiently. Requirements Key Responsibilities The duties listed below represent the primary responsibilities of this position but are not all-inclusive: Complete Volunteer Standards of Conduct (VITA/TCE) training annually and pass the required test with a score of 80% or higher Complete annual training related to the Intake/Interview & Quality Review Process Sign and date Form 13615 – Volunteer Standards of Conduct Agreement Screen potential clients by phone and in person using established eligibility guidelines Schedule tax preparation appointments based on daily site availability and volunteer preparer schedules Serve as an intake greeter, providing a welcoming and supportive experience for clients Provide guidance and support to volunteer appointment schedulers Assist the Program Coordinator with data collection and reporting requirements Enter and maintain accurate client and program data in LIFE’s reporting database Certification Requirement Volunteer Standards of Conduct – Level certification (training provided) Qualifications & Skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Excellent verbal communication skills, with a focus on respectful, non-invasive communication with older adults Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Professional appearance and a positive, service-oriented attitude Comfort using basic computer systems and databases Position Details Seasonal / Temporary position Expected duration: January through April Schedule and hours may vary based on program needs during peak tax season If you enjoy working with the community, value clear processes, and want to support older adults during an important time of year, we encourage you to apply!
