Overview As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture. Summary Goldbelt TRAM is seeking knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tour Guides to lead visitors on tours of/and about both Juneau, Alaska's cultural landmarks and historic sites and Mt Roberts Alpine Loop Trail. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Alaska Native culture, history, and storytelling and be able to share their knowledge in an engaging and informative way. Part-time and full-time schedules are available. We're excited to share that the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We kindly ask that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense. Pay and Benefits: Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan is designed to provide an effective means to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. However, Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, in the sole discretion of the Company. Goldbelt, Inc. hopes that by providing short-term incentive compensation, this will motivate and increase the retention rate among its employees which in turn will enhance Goldbelt Inc.’s long-term value. Starting Rate: $23.00 - DOE Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inform diverse groups of people Strong knowledge and/or enthusiasm of Alaska Native cultural and historical significance, including the Tlingit and Haida people, and their role in Juneau's history Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively Knowledge of tourism industry practices and trends Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills) Tour Guides must have an ability to learn, and memorize historical facts, natural science and cultural significance while also being able to adapt to any scripted materials for each tour Must be service oriented Preferrred Qualifications (education, experience, skills) High school or GED Experience in a tour-related or entertainment industry desired Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures, including CPR and First Aid certification Responsibilities Job Duties Responsible for planning, coordinating, selling and conducting tours, providing commentary on the city's Alaska Native cultural and historical significance Greet all guests with a smile upon arrival; maintain good energy and optimism in a fast-paced environment Manage the waiting list like a pro; record names and party numbers then provide an estimated waiting time Ensure the safety and satisfaction of tour participants Answers questions of groups Distribute brochures on establishment and the historical site to visitors Lead accurate, informative and fun tours Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return; help ensure that every guest creates a positive memory Other duties and tasks may be assigned
