Description
Support ASO in defining and implementing seat safety strategies to meet evolving regulations from organizations such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations, and international governing bodies for automotive safety and compliance in regions which vehicles are sold. Define strategy for occupant sensing and other Passive Integrated Restraint (PIA) components within seating systems. Ensure compliance with key Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) relevant to seating systems, including the updated FMVSS 208 (Occupant Crash Protection) with a focus on advanced occupant sensing systems, FMVSS 210 (Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages), and FMVSS 225 (Child Restraint Anchorage Systems). Actively engage with the Global Crash Safety Tech Club and support the development of SDGs and PDGs related to seat safety. Support future strategies as it relates to advanced technologies and innovation to define next generation of automotive seating, including structural advancements, autonomous driving, and comfort features. Support application teams by conducting and signing off on DFMEA and DVP&R reviews, ensuring strict alignment to SCCAFs. Support the alignment and sign-off process between FEDE and JIRA requirements. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field). 3+ years of experience in automotive safety or compliance focused on seating systems. Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field). Demonstrated experience with automotive safety regulations (IIHS, NHTSA FMVSS 208, 210, 225, Rear Impact and UNECE). Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262). Strong proficiency in CAE tools and methodologies for automotive seating. In-depth knowledge of DFMEA, SCCAF, and other quality and compliance processes.
