Following a devastating fire in September last year, the Marr Lodge is currently undergoing a circa £1million refurbishment. We are recruiting for a Second Chef; this is an exciting opportunity to join our senior team and really make your mark.
Our kitchen is the mainstay of our business and we are looking for an experienced Second Chef to assist in leading our kitchen team. As a second chef you will be expected to support the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager and fill in in their absence, as well as work with other senior management to ensure the business operates smoothly.

WE ARE EXPECTING TO REOPEN LATE AUGUST/EARLY SEPTEMBER AND ANY POTENTIAL APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE FROM MID AUGUST FOR FULL TRAINING.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience ideally as a Second Chef. We’re looking for the perfect person that has a passion for development, consistency and quality is really essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day to day management of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager
  • Ensure that dishes are prepared and cooked according to the specific site standards.
  • Ensure that stock is ordered in line with company policy.
  • Ensure that stock is rotated and controlled including food labelling within the specific section of the kitchen
  • Ensure full understanding of the functional administration of the site.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the full menu and be able to explain dish descriptions.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements under the H&S act 1974 and Food Hygiene.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, standards and guidelines are carefully adhered to.
  • Adhere to prescribed standards of personal hygiene and grooming
  • Perform any other duties as required
  • To ensure that all cleaning rotas are adhered to and carried out in a timely and effective manner.
  • To ensure that all food hygiene due diligence paper work is completed in a correct and timely manner.
  • To build a good working relationship with the team and deliver training and support to team members as required.
  • To communicate effectively with the kitchen team and all members of the management team.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £14.00 per hour
