OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Second Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Second Cook works twelve hours per day for fourteen (14) consecutive days, followed by fourteen (14) consecutive days of rest.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and food handling practices is essential.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in food preparation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Safe Food Handling Level 1; and Basic WHMIS.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • The ability to communicate successfully.
  • Excellent teamwork and strong customer service skills.
  • Cross-cultural awareness of the Nishnawbe-Aski (Treat 9) first nations.
  • Class G Licence (required)

Responsibilities
  • Assists Chef in meal preparation.
  • Restocks and replenishes food items when necessary.
  • Notifies chef when items run low so another product can be refilled.
  • Assists with prep for the next day as assigned.
  • Assists with putting away the food truck delivery.
  • Keeps work areas clean and sanitized.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances.
  • Delivers meals to designated sites in Sioux Lookout
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Work with other team members to ensure that all food preparation is completed on time.
  • Other duties assigned by the Manager or Chef on duty
