Second Cook Job Description  Position Title: Second Cook  Department: Food and Beverage (F&B)  Location:  Rocky View Lodge Reports To: Head Cook Schedule:  Casual fill in as needed, 7 AM - 3 PM or 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Sunday through Saturday   Organization Overview:  Rocky View Foundation is a not-for-profit affordable housing provider dedicated to improving the quality of life for low and moderate-income individuals and families. Our mission is to develop, manage, and maintain affordable housing solutions that support sustainable communities.     RVF Core Values:   Collaboration Authenticity Resourceful Engaged    Position Summary:  The Second Cook plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals to our residents. This position involves working closely with the kitchen team to prepare nutritious meals that meet our senior residents' dietary requirements and preferences. The Second Cook must adhere to food safety and sanitation standards while demonstrating culinary creativity and excellent cooking skills.     Key Responsibilities:  1.Meal Preparation  * Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, ensuring they are nutritious, flavorful, and visually appealing. Ensure timely and efficient service during meal times.   2.Menu Planning * Provide input and suggestions for new menu items and recipe improvements.   3. Food Safety  * Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment at all times, following food safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.   4. Equipment Maintenance * Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working order. Report any equipment malfunctions to the Head Cook or maintenance team.   5. Team Collaboration * Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.   6. Communication * Communicate effectively with F&B staff to ensure coordination and timely service.   Qualifications:  Education:   * Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred is an asset. Experience:   * Minimum of one year of experience in a professional kitchen.
