POSITION OVERVIEW
Marion County Schools is seeking an innovative and dedicated Secondary Education Coordinator to provide leadership in curriculum, instruction, and school improvement across grades 5–12. This position, based at the Central Office, will play a critical role in advancing student achievement, particularly in mathematics, science, STEM, and career and technical education (CTE) initiatives.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in instructional design, program development, and data-driven decision-making, with a proven record of supporting secondary educators and improving student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
- Develop and implement rigorous instructional programs for secondary schools, with a strong emphasis on math, science, STEM, and CTE pathways.
- Create, update, and maintain educational content and resources, incorporating current technologies and best practices.
- Coordinate the review and adoption of instructional materials and resources.
Teacher Support & Development
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct professional development programs for teachers, emphasizing effective strategies in math, science, STEM, and career readiness instruction.
- Provide both onsite and virtual technical assistance to schools and departments.
- Observe instructional practices and provide targeted coaching and feedback to enhance teacher effectiveness.
School Improvement & Monitoring
- Lead and support continuous improvement planning in secondary schools.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data, including math and science proficiency, discipline, graduation rates, and attendance.
- Provide targeted support based on needs assessments and identified performance gaps.
CTE & STEM Expansion
- Collaborate with district leadership to expand and strengthen middle and high school STEM and CTE pathways, including aviation, greenhouse/agriculture, computer science, robotics, and other emerging fields.
- Partner with community organizations, higher education, and industry leaders to enhance opportunities for students.
- Support integration of STEM-focused, project-based learning to prepare students for college and careers.
Compliance & Leadership
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
- Collaborate with school and district leaders to align initiatives with strategic goals and best practices.
- Support the development and implementation of school-level strategic and improvement plans.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in education required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of successful teaching in a secondary setting (math, science, or STEM field preferred).
- Certification: National Board Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of instructional leadership, effective teaching practices, and curriculum design.
- Proven ability to analyze and use data to drive instructional and program decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and program management skills.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and professional learning, with emphasis on digital tools that support STEM and CTE education.
Contract & Compensation
- Contract Term: 261 days (12-month position).
- Location: Marion County Schools Central Office.
- Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, per Marion County Schools pay scale.
