POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a qualified and committed teacher to deliver senior-level Humanities courses as part of our term-based program model. This is a part-time, in-person teaching assignment, scheduled during TERM 1 (September to November) Teaching may occur in one or multiple terms, depending on subject qualifications and availability. Each course must meet the expectations of a 110-hour, Ministry-inspected credit and requires formal instructional documentation, evaluation, and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Sciences, or a related field; Bachelor of Education preferred
  • Experience teaching senior secondary courses in an Ontario or Canadian school context
  • Familiarity with Growing Success, formal assessment practices, and standards-based grading
  • Teachables in at least one of: BOH4M, CHY4U, HSB4U; preference given to candidates who can teach multiple
  • Fluency in English and strong written communication skills
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency is required
Responsibilities
  • Teach one or more assigned senior-level Humanities courses, based on term and subject alignment
  • Deliver content that is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations
  • Maintain and adapt course outlines suitable for small-group delivery while ensuring inspection readiness
  • Post unit plans, success criteria, and rubrics clearly and promptly
  • Maintain a well-organized online course space and up-to-date gradebook in the school’s LMS (Blackbaud)
  • Archive major assessments and student exemplars for inspection documentation
  • Complete midterm and final reporting, attend parent interviews, and communicate regularly with families
  • Engage students in real-world connections through history, business literacy, inquiry, and discussion
  • Build academic skills while encouraging critical thinking, self-reflection, and future readiness
  • Contribute to the school’s professional culture with clarity, consistency, and subject-area leadership
