JOB DESCRIPTION:

Somerset Academy Central Miramar is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle and High School Intensive Reading Teacher to support and enhance our students’ literacy development. The ideal candidate will provide targeted reading instruction and intervention to students in grades 6-8 and/or 9-12, with a focus on building foundational reading skills, comprehension, and a lifelong love of reading. A valid reading certification and/or endorsement is required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Reading, English, or a related field (required).
  • Valid Florida teaching certification with reading endorsement and/or reading certification (required).
  • Previous experience teaching reading or literacy at the seondary level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of reading assessments, intervention techniques, and literacy best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners and promoting a culture of literacy.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: From $51,500.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and assess effective reading lessons and intervention programs that address the diverse needs of students.
  • Use data-driven approaches to identify students in need of additional reading support and create individualized or small-group instruction plans.
  • Employ research-based strategies to strengthen students’ reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy across the curriculum and provide resources for differentiated instruction.
  • Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate records in compliance with school and district requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and strategies for supporting literacy at home.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student confidence, engagement, and growth in reading.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and literacy initiatives as required.
