Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To teach English Language and/or English Literature to secondary school students (Years 7–11) in line with the IGCSE curriculum. You will be responsible for planning and delivering inspiring lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills in an online setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach live, interactive online English lessons to students in Years 7 to 11, aligned with the IGCSE (Cambridge or Edexcel) specifications.
  • Develop creative and effective lesson plans and resources suitable for virtual delivery.
  • Prepare students for IGCSE English Language and/or Literature examinations through structured instruction, practice tasks, and feedback.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Support and stretch students across a range of abilities, encouraging a love of literature and mastery of language.
  • Provide regular feedback to students and maintain communication with parents/carers and pastoral teams.
  • Participate in online school events, departmental meetings, and collaborative planning.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote a safe, inclusive virtual classroom.
