The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a growing International school in Amsterdam. We are on the lookout for enthusiastic, collaborative, and knowledgeable colleagues to join our team. Due to the continued growth of our school, we have an opportunity for an experienced Secondary Physical Education Teaching Assistant.
Pay scale: 5 (min. €2.439,- max. €3.262,-) full-time per month, before tax.
Please note this is a part-time position spread over three and a half days, Monday, Tuesday morning, Wednesday and Friday.
Start date: October 2025 (or September 2025, if available).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have experience working with children or young people in an educational or sporting context. Ideally, they will have an interest in pursuing a career in sports coaching or education.
Experience in an international setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

The PHE Assistant plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of Physical and Health Education lessons at AICS. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students to and from external lesson venues and providing in-class assistance to teachers by supporting individuals and small groups.

  • To supervise and facilitate student transport to off-site PHE lessons (on school coaches);
  • To actively support the PHE teachers during lessons by assisting with activities, demonstrations, and student supervision;
  • To work with small groups and individual students to provide additional guidance and encouragement;
  • To promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all students;
  • To support the organisation and management of equipment and resources as needed.
