SECONDARY SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – SEN SCHOOL

Location: Whitehaven, Cumbria

Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday | Typically 08:30am – 3:30pm / 4pm (flexible days available for part-time)
Are you a caring and dedicated individual with experience supporting young people with special educational needs? A welcoming and specialist SEN school in Whitehaven is looking to appoint Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to start in September 2025.
This rewarding opportunity is open to both full-time and part-time applicants, and involves working with pupils aged 11–16 who have a variety of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech & language challenges, and SEMH.

REQUIREMENTS:

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS certificate (on the Update Service or willingness to apply – support available)
A full and up-to-date CV
Relevant experience in SEN, education, or youth support

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN across a range of secondary subjects
Assist in delivering individual learning plans and EHCP targets
Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students
Help manage behaviour positively and support students with regulation strategies
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and outside professionals
Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
