SECONDARY TEACHING ASSISTANT – WHITEHAVEN

Start date: September 2025
Hours: Full-time, term-time only
We’re looking for two dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming school in Whitehaven, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, motivated, and passionate about helping young people thrive both in the classroom and beyond.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You don’t need to be an experienced TA already — we’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about supporting young people.
• Patient, calm, and able to build positive relationships.
• Confident working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
• A good communicator and team player.

Experience in care, youth work, mentoring, or support work is also highly valued. Training and guidance will be provided.

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
• Contract: Full-time or part time, term-time only

  Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
