About the role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Section Engineer to join our Regional Civils business unit, contributing to the BTNO project for National Grid in Colchester.
What you’ll be doing

As a Section Engineer within Balfour Beatty, you will:

  • Carry out complex setting out
  • Produce Activity Control Plans
  • Actively uses the Specification as a reference document
  • Maintain a comprehensive filing system of quality records
  • Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports
  • Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions
  • Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs
  • Carry out ‘short term’, Visitors Induction
  • Complete Accident Book and associated reports as required
  • Produce a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s
  • Communicate weekly programme and targets to the workforce
  • Collate Weekly Measure information and monitors wastage against budget allowances / KPI’s
  • Carry out a labour and plant reconciliation
  • Identify items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications
  • Work to specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a Section Engineer with the following skills and experience:

  • Able to carry out complex setting out
  • Understands and has experience of producing ACP
  • Understanding of construction tolerances
  • Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents
  • Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to Work
  • Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls
  • Understands and can use the information provided in the 13 week Stage Programme
  • Good understanding of key contract documentation
  • Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers
