Liar Liar is looking for an experienced, energetic and polished Section Waiter/Waitress to join our growing front-of-house team.

We’re a high-energy Japanese restaurant and late-night venue combining premium Japanese food, cocktails, sake and entertainment. We’re looking for hospitality professionals who know how to own a section, guide a table and create an experience — not simply take orders.

The Role

As a Section Waiter, you’ll take responsibility for your own section and the complete guest experience from arrival through to departure.

You’ll be expected to:

- Confidently manage a busy section

- Build genuine relationships with guests

- Explain and guide guests through our Japanese menu

- Demonstrate knowledge of sashimi, nigiri, maki, Japanese flavours and dining styles

- Recommend dishes and create a balanced dining experience

- Upsell cocktails, sake, wine and premium menu items

- Control the pacing and sequence of each table

- Work closely with the kitchen, pass, runners, bar and management

- Maintain immaculate tables and presentation throughout service

- Anticipate what guests need before they have to ask

- Bring personality, energy and professionalism to every shift

We’d love to hear from you if you:

- Have experience as a Section Waiter/Waitress in a busy restaurant

- Have Japanese restaurant experience or a strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine

- Are comfortable managing multiple tables independently

- Have excellent communication and customer service skills

- Understand the importance of timing, table maintenance and attention to detail

- Are confident recommending and upselling food and beverages

- Can remain calm and organised during high-volume services

- Have a polished, qualified presentation

- Bring positive energy and enjoy working as part of a strong team

- Hold a current Victorian RSA

Japanese restaurant, premium dining, sushi or sake experience will be highly regarded.
