Job Description Do you want to contribute to enhancing security across the breadth of the National Security sector? Ramboll is looking for a Defence Sector Lead, to drive business development, client engagement and programme delivery, as well as shaping the evolution of sector strategy within the business. You will join our multi-disciplinary 'Transformation and Public Buildings Service Line’ We have recently restructured of our global 'Buildings' business into a sector-focused, multi-disciplinary organisational structure. Our Transformation and Public Buildings Service Line is principally focussed on Public Sector clients, as well as the major contractors who undertake work for these clients. Although the role sits within this service line, close co-ordination is required across other business areas, such as Transport, Energy, Environment & Health and Management Consultancy, to progress projects which address the clients’ needs. Defence clients encompass the Ministry of Defence, the Front-Line Commands (Navy, Army Air Force, and Cyber and Specialist Operations Command), organisations within the National Armaments Director Group (Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Defence Equipment & Support and Defence Digital), as well as the Prime Contractors who also support Defence capability outcomes. Specific projects span the Defence domains (Maritime, Land, Air, Space and Cyber) and can range from consultancy support, through the entire project cycle. We are seeking to appoint a Defence Sector Lead Director, with a strong Defence pedigree, detailed understanding of the Defence environment and an established network of Defence contacts, to build upon the National Security & Resilience foundations which have already been established in the business and expand our service provision both in the UK and overseas. Indeed, the role requires close collaboration with the business’ other geographies, especially the Nordic countries and North America. Leading a hand-picked team of Defence specialists, the role is focussed on client engagement, work winning, optimising processes and procedures, shaping the business’ Defence strategy, and influencing our project technical and commercial leadership. Although a high level of existing development is expected, we offer a supporting and collaborative culture and environment, in which further professional development will thrive. Key aspects for the role The Defence Sector Lead demands comprehensive sector knowledge, outstanding leadership, and significant drive and ambition to accelerate the growth of the Sector within the business. The role will be challenging and multi-facetted, including: Promoting Ramboll’s profile and enhancing our reputation, both nationally and internationally Thought leadership across National Security fora and professional institutions Networking with clients, industry fora, and competitors Undertaking Business-to-Business engagement with potential partners Identifying, tracking and exploiting opportunities across service lines and business areas Managing large tenders and proposals Leading and managing large multi-disciplinary project teams, promoting best practice, the application of innovation and personnel development Supporting recruitment to broaden and strengthen our offering Promoting continuous learning, evolution and improvement Delivering to an agreed revenue target and profitability KPI’s Providing a principal point of contact for Defence-related issues across the business Detailed requirements of Role Essential: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven leadership at a senior level in the Defence Environment Proven behaviours to operate effectively with diverse stakeholders in high-stress environments Proven management of a portfolio of significant programmes and projects Demonstration of success management of significant financial responsibility Proven experience of delivering a quality service with a clear focus on successful outcomes Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution DV Security Clearance Proven ability to operate at the SECRET and ABOVE SECRET level Comprehensive understanding of: Organisation and Operation of Ministry of Defence, to include: The Department of State Military Strategic Head Quarters National Armaments Director Group Defence Nuclear Enterprise Organisation and Operation of each of the Front-Line Commands Organisation and Operation of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation MoD Governance, including the scrutiny and approvals process Defence Capabilities, MoD User Requirements and the application of ‘Minimum Military Requirement (MMR)’ Established network of principal stakeholders across the MoD Head Office and the Front-Line Commands Excellent stakeholder management and leaderships skills, to engage and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the Defence Estate, both UK and Overseas Highly Desirable: Comprehensive understanding of: Organisation and Operation of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Crown Commercial Service Construction Professional Services Frameworks Ramboll Client Relationship Management (CRM) System Ramboll Project Planning and Delivery processes and procedures Defence Estate, both UK and Overseas Fellowship within a Professional Institution Established network of Defence contractors Psc(j) Qualified Masters Degree Qualified Prior experience of evaluation of Mod tenders.
