Job Description: Business Division Fidelity's Equity Division is responsible for managing more than 129 diversified mutual funds and over 50 industry specific funds. Assets under management total more than $950 billion. The department consists of over 200 Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts and Research Associates. The Equity Trading organization operates as a globally integrated platform across Boston, London, and Hong Kong, providing 24‑hour access to global markets and combining high‑touch execution, systematic trading, quantitative analytics, portfolio services, and syndicate capabilities. The Position The Sector Trading team is an integral part of the investment process within the broader Equity Trading organization. Traders on this team perform a specialized execution and advisory function, where they are responsible for implementing investment decisions efficiently across Asia‑Pacific markets while preserving alpha and managing execution risk. The role partners closely with the investment team by filtering market color, liquidity conditions, and real‑time developments back to global investors. With deep knowledge of APAC market structure, strong broker relationships, and close engagement with investment professionals, the Sector Trader plays a critical role in minimizing trading costs, sourcing differentiated liquidity, and supporting complex, multi‑day trade implementation. The position is Hong Kong‑based and reports to the Head Trader for the Asia‑Pacific region, working closely with global trading desks in Boston and London. The Value You Deliver Execute high‑complexity, multi‑day equity orders with a focus on minimizing market impact, information leakage, and implementation costs. Serve as a primary execution and advisory partner to Portfolio Managers, providing pre‑trade strategy, cost expectations, and execution timing guidance for complex situations. Develop and maintain deep sector and country expertise aligned with research teams, enabling subject‑matter expertise and deep partnerships with analysts. Source differentiated liquidity through extensive broker relationships, including block trades and bespoke execution opportunities. Actively identify and surface internal and external crossing opportunities to reduce market impact and trading costs. Provide quality market color, sector insights, and thematic commentary through daily notes, market updates, and live engagement with investment teams. Engage directly with Portfolio Managers and Analysts during earnings season, corporate events, investor calls, and field trips to remain closely aligned with the investment process. Act as a real‑time control layer, identifying and preventing trade entry errors, operational issues, and execution risks before they reach the market. Coordinate closely with internal partners including Compliance, Counterparty Research, Operations, Corporate Actions, Technology, and Portfolio Services to ensure seamless execution and settlement. Maintain a strong understanding of regulatory regimes across Asia‑Pacific markets to ensure trading activity remains fully compliant with local market requirements. Experience and Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of trading desk experience with direct exposure to Asia‑Pacific equity markets. Strong understanding of market structure, liquidity dynamics, and regulatory frameworks across APAC markets. Demonstrate ability to execute complex, multi‑day orders and provide actionable execution advice to investors. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with Portfolio Managers & Research Analysts. Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to operate independently within a globally coordinated trading organization. High attention to detail, strong judgment under pressure, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑moving markets. Proficiency with trading technology and execution platforms used to support high‑touch trading workflows.
