PRIMARY FUNCTION

Legal Aid Ontario is seeking a proactive and skilled Security Analyst to join our Information Technology Infrastructure team and safeguard our digital infrastructure.

Reports to: Manager, IT Enterprise Infrastructure Planning & Operations

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Security Operations
  • Perform routine and emergency patching of servers and endpoints to address vulnerabilities, including zero-day threats.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans across corporate networks and systems to identify and prioritize security weaknesses.
  • Execute penetration testing on new or upgraded systems to evaluate security controls and recommend enhancements.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations teams to deploy and maintain security tools (e.g., antivirus, endpoint protection, encryption) and ensure timely updates.
  1. Security Monitoring & Incident Response
  • Monitor security alerts from SIEM, IDS, and other tools to detect and respond to threats in real time.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of security incidents, including investigation, containment, and post-incident analysis.
  • Stay ahead of emerging cyber threats (e.g., ransomware, malware, attack vectors) through continuous threat intelligence monitoring.
  • Adhere to corporate Cybersecurity Incident Response protocols to minimize organizational risk.
  1. Security Breach Investigation
  • Lead forensic investigations into security breaches, collect digital evidence, and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Support legal proceedings by documenting findings and providing expert analysis of security incidents.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with IT teams, management, and external vendors to communicate risks and align security strategies.
  • Develop comprehensive security reports, KPIs, and dashboards to demonstrate control effectiveness to stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver engaging security awareness programs to promote a culture of cybersecurity across the organization.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives to enhance the organization’s security posture.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT Operations with a focus on security.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanning tools,
  • Familiarity with patch management, digital forensics, penetration testing, and malware analysis.
  • Proficiency with tools like Nessus, Qualys, Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of cyber threat landscapes, security frameworks, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Relevant certifications such as CEH, GCIH, or CISSP are an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
