Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Security & Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and overseeing the Agency’s security and life safety systems. Assist with determining safety and security risks for the Agency. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain and monitor the access control system for the Agency Maintain system updates, as needed Ensure all contracts are executed within Agency guidelines Maintain and monitor ID Access control card processing for the Agency Maintain system updates, including PIN codes, as required Ensure all contracts are executed within Agency guidelines Responsible for managing the distribution and coding of ID cards/badges Manage security systems at all applicable Agency facilities Ensure all contracts are executed within Agency guidelines Monitor and implement internal updates, as needed Manage Life Safety Systems (Fire and Medical) AED’s (future) Fire Alarm Systems Ensure all contracts are executed within Agency guidelines Provide routine service and inspections, as required Fire Sprinkler systems Assist with Risk Management / Workplace Safety Program Complete regular Work Compensation Audits/Security Assessments Assist in internal incident investigations, as needed Establish a Safety Committee, participate in regular meetings Ensure routine emergency fire drills/evacuations (Headquarters, One Stops) Provide employee safety training and education Provide support in the implementation and monitoring of ALICE Training Develop and document security policies and procedures. Assist with special projects, as requested. Process purchase orders and place orders, as needed Attend conferences and workshops in alignment with program duties. Perform data entry duties as needed. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Senior Director of Facilities & Transportation Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED with hands-on experience programming and maintaining electronic security systems and related components. Additional education and training preferred. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Strong working knowledge of risk management and safety practices Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken Ability to exercise good judgement and emotional maturity Ability to plan and organize work as well as maintain records and prepare reports Self-starter with the ability to perform with little direct supervision. Computer, data entry, and MS Office skills Ability to set up and maintain accurate records and files Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in fast-paced environment Ability to maintain a strong commitment to mission of ECS and project goals Knowledge of applicable safety, OHSA standards Ability to handle confidential information appropriately LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license with proof of automobile coverage Satisfactory Driving Record (as outlined in the Vehicle Driving Policy) Complete a minimum of 15 hours of in-service training annually, July 1 – June 30 Maintain current First Aide and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Ability to work remote 2-3 per week with weekly travel to multiple sites throughout North / Central Florida required Minimal out of town, weekend, evening work required ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Typical Physical & Mental Demands: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping, and stretching, and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, and other office equipment. Ability to perform physical activities that require use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate with clients and staff. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
