Piper Companies is seeking a Security Architect – AI Governance for a world leading technology organization based in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. The ideal candidate for the Security Architect – AI Governance will have deep experience in cybersecurity architecture and a strong understanding of AI governance frameworks, compliance, and risk management in cloud-based environments. The Security Architect – AI Governance role is remote or onsite in RTP, NC.

Responsibilities for the Security Architect – AI Governance include:

  • Design and implement secure cloud-native architectures with a focus on AI/ML systems
  • Develop and enforce AI governance policies including model risk management, data privacy, and ethical AI use
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for AI-driven applications
  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, and legal teams to ensure compliance with global AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF)
  • Lead security reviews and audits of AI systems and infrastructure
  • Mentor teams on secure development practices and responsible AI principles

Requirements for the Security Architect – AI Governance include:

  • 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, including work with AI/ML systems
  • Strong background in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience implementing AI governance frameworks or model risk management strategies
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, and emerging AI legislation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field

Compensation for the Security Architect – AI Governance:

  • $145,000–$190,000 annually
  • Full comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law
