JOB SUMMARY:

The Security Controller is responsible for the smooth operation of the 24/7 Control Room, ensuring the effective coordination of security personnel, monitoring of systems, escalation of incidents, and communication between operational teams, clients, and emergency services. They are the first point of contact during emergencies and the central hub for all shift and deployment coordination.
The role includes handling critical elements such as staff scheduling, welfare check-ins, lone worker support, and the officer book-on/book-off process to ensure both compliance and employee wellbeing. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, responsive under pressure, and experienced in coordinating a security workforce using a range of communication and monitoring systems.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid SIA Licence (CCTV, DS, or Security Guarding).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a security control room, operations centre, or command post.
  • Strong working knowledge of control room equipment: CCTV, access control, alarm systems, lone worker systems.
  • High proficiency in communication - written, verbal, and via radio protocols.
  • Excellent organisational and scheduling abilities.
  • Familiarity with workforce management platforms and shift planning tools.
  • Right to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with lone working monitoring systems (e.g., StaySafe, SoloProtect).
  • Conflict management and de-escalation training.
  • First Aid or Fire Marshal Certification.
  • Knowledge of BS 7858 and BS 7499 standards.
  • Familiarity with GDPR relating to CCTV and personal data usage.
