As Security Controller, you will be responsible for safeguarding government information while protecting Rowden’s personnel, data, and facilities. You will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with GovS 007 and JSP 440, ensuring Rowden adheres to government frameworks and security standards. In this role, you will administer and continuously enhance Rowden’s Security Management System, fostering a strong security culture across the organisation.
You will provide expert guidance to project teams on security-related matters, ensuring the proper handling of classified information and assets, effective risk management, and adherence to security best practices.

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS

This role requires a strong background in security management, ideally within a UK defence contractor, the MOD, or other government agencies. You should be confident advising on security matters and ensuring compliance across the organisation. You will be confident having technical conversations with our project teams, to enable security risks to be surfaced and effectively mitigated.

  • Extensive experience in security management within MOD, defence, or other government environments.
  • Strong understanding of MOD security frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply security legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with teams at all levels.
  • The ability to rapidly digest new information and technically competent enough to get to grips with a wide array of technically complex projects.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a proactive approach to security risk management.
  • Experience conducting security audits and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership skills to drive a security-conscious culture across the business.
Responsibilities

As a Security Controller at Rowden, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Rowden’s Security Management System.
  • Managing the handling, storage, and destruction of protectively marked materials and government assets.
  • Overseeing security vetting and clearance management processes.
  • The physical security of Rowden’s facilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with government standards, laws and regulations.
  • Delivering security training across the business to promote awareness and adherence to best practices.
  • Conducting security audits to assess best practice adherence and identify non-conformances.
  • Informing senior management of changes to government / MOD security policies and requirements.
  • Chairing the Security Working Group to drive security improvements across the business
