JOB SUMMARY
The doorhost is responsible for taking reasonable steps to: (1) protect the safety of our guests and employees, (2) enforce Company policies in compliance with the ABC Act and similar laws, including, but not limited to, not allowing entry by individuals who are under the age of 21 or individuals showing signs of intoxication, and (3) protect the property of our guests, the Company, and our employees. The doorhost is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the venue and taking out the trash, performing bussing duties as directed by the MOD, and assisting with band and entertainer load-ins and loadouts as directed by the MOD.
Our doorhosts are the first person that our guests see and are the employees to whom guests and other employees turn to when they have a question or a concern regarding guest conduct. Our doorhosts therefore must greet guests in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner, and maintain positive, safe, and professional interactions with all guests, coworkers, and management team members.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
- Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public and coworkers
- Proficient verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction and be able to manage guest behavior
- Basic food handling requirements
- Basic mathematical skills
- Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Move quickly through crowded areas of a busy venue in a safe manner in order to get to and handle guest situations
- Judge whether a guest is intoxicated based upon that guest’s appearance, speech, breath, actions, and behavior
- Read and verify validity of identification cards such as driver’s licenses
- Handle pressure situations and problem guests in a professional manner
- Communicate with guests and employees in a professional manner
- Handle verbal and physical abuse as a result of guest misconduct in a professional manner and be able to control those problems when possible.
- Take reasonable steps to physically control guests who are engaged in violent behavior to help prevent injury to other guests, employees, and the guests involved in the behavior. This requires physically being able to handle people wrestling and fighting with you, being jerked, twisted, scratched, grabbed, punched, banged into people and objects, and falling or being thrown onto the ground.
- Work until early morning hours of approximately 3:00 a.m. and be available on weekends, holidays, and odd hours
- Lift a full trash can (about 100 lbs.).
- Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures
