We are seeking a skilled Security Engineer III to join a hybrid, mission-driven team supporting a global scientific research community. In this role, you will be integral to the incident response function, helping identify, contain, and remediate security threats across complex, distributed environments. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to analyze security incidents, implement automation, and improve overall security posture. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of security technologies and cloud environments, and the ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Accountabilities: · Assist in scoping, analyzing, and triaging security incidents to identify indicators of attack and compromise. · Coordinate responses with security teams and provide guidance on remediation strategies. · Maintain, develop, and implement incident response runbooks, capabilities, and techniques. · Conduct security triage and analysis across endpoints, servers, and network infrastructure. · Investigate the root cause of complex incidents and maintain high confidentiality standards. · Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends to proactively improve security posture. · Proven experience in cybersecurity incident response or related fields. · Ability to analyze, triage, contain, and remediate security incidents in complex environments. · Knowledge of major cloud providers, cloud security, networking, and hybrid/multi-cloud deployments. · Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Java, or similar languages. · Experience with Linux and/or Mac administration; Network Security or Systems Administration experience preferred. · Familiarity with enterprise security tools, processes, and monitoring. · Experience supporting large, geographically distributed organizations. · Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, SANS, GIAC, ethical hacking, penetration testing, or security risk assessment. · Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. · Competitive base pay ($70,200 - $117,100) with annual incentive bonus. · Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple carrier options. · 401(k) plan with employer match and Employee Share Purchase Plan. · Wellness programs, including mental health apps, incentives, and Employee Assistance Programs. · Short- and long-term disability, life insurance, critical illness, and hospital indemnity coverage. · Family-friendly benefits, including bonding, caregiving, adoption, and surrogacy support. · Health savings, dependent care, and commuter spending accounts. · Paid Time Off, plus up to two additional days for volunteering or Employee Resource Group participation.
