The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented and cyber-savvy candidate to work as a Security Engineer in our Management Services Department. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Security Engineer will be responsible for daily oversight and implementation of security activities and controls that aim to make our security positions strong and well-managed.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PROVEN TECHNICAL AND BUSINESS BACKGROUND. THEREFORE, THE POST-HOLDER SHOULD HAVE:

  • A master’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity or a related field and certifications in both Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and CompTIA Security+
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT Security and risk disciplines, of which at least three (3) years should be at a senior IT security level working within a financial services business
  • Familiarity with FreshService or similar IT service management software
  • Extensive knowledge of operating systems and database security
  • Proficient in networking technologies, network security and network monitoring solutions
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity risks and the ability to translate these risks into strategic corporate decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and collaborate with others
  • Proficient in project management

Responsibilities
  • Completing daily security tasks and checks promptly, ensuring all systems are secure and setting up preventative measures
  • Identifying, diagnosing and fixing system security issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Providing expert recommendations regarding security tools and configurations to significantly enhance the Authority’s security landscape
  • Maintaining the Authority’s security defence strategy, ensuring a multilayered approach to protecting the data and network
  • Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities to prevent potential threats and breaches
  • Configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining security infrastructure software and hardware
  • Assisting in the creation, revision and maintenance of the BMA’s security policies to align with business objectives
  • Ensuring the IT Risk Register is current, and all entries are accurate and reflect the current risk profile of the organisation
  • Participating in change review meetings, providing vital input to ensure alignment with our cybersecurity strategies
  • Performing other related work and special projects as assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with the post
