Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to those normal duties as outlined in the V.Ships VMS, the Security Guard is responsible for:

  • Having thorough knowledge of the Security Procedures, Ship Security Plan, Code of Discipline and Company’s Policies and Procedures related to security
  • Working actively to maintain the security of passengers, crew and vessel
  • Complete familiarity with the General Arrangement (GA) and Fire Safety Plans of the vessel
  • Informing Security Officer about all significant security and discipline matters
  • Working closely with the Security Officer/Security Supervisor and other Guards
  • Being well familiar with and maintaining all security equipment in good working condition
  • Security and fire rounds
  • Transportation of passports (to and from the Embarkation Office)
  • Various escort duties
  • Gangway security
  • Luggage inspection of crew signing-on, signing-off or coming back from shore leave
  • Crowd control
  • Using the cabin door lock reader, including replacement of door lock batteries when needed
  • Assisting with any other duties related to safety and security as directed by section and department head
  • Adhering and complying with all company policies and procedures, manuals and directives
  • Performing duties and tasks according to above but not limited to that

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend passenger social events as directed by the Head of Department.
  • Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as directed by the Head of Department.
  • Other shipboard tasks pertaining to departmental operations as directed by Head of Department.
  • Attending trainings and office visits arranged by V.Ships Leisure where possible
