QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 and experience
• Law & Security Administration diploma, Police Foundations, or relevant post-secondary education an asset
• A valid Ontario Private Security & Investigative Services License (or willingness to obtain one – we’ll cover the test fee based on eligibility!)
• Valid Class G Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Professionalism, discretion, and reliability
• Physical ability to perform regular patrols – on foot and by vehicle, including stairs
• Willingness to work rotating day/night shifts

As a Casual Status Lakehead Security Guard, you’ll play a key role in protecting our students, staff, and property, while contributing to a welcoming and secure campus environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Patrolling campus buildings and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and safety risks
• Monitoring for fire hazards, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations
• Enforcing parking and smoking regulations
• Responding to medical calls and assisting emergency responders
• Providing walking escort services and guiding visitors around campus
• Supporting the University’s Lost & Found and writing clear, timely reports
• Working collaboratively with other guards and local police, fire, and paramedic services
