Schedule: Sat & Sun 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Position Overview A professional security guard to protect Path of Life Community Shelter premises, assets, and personnel. The Guard will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions. The goal is to detect, deter, observe and report. Preferred Skills/Knowledge Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols Surveillance skills and detail orientation Integrity and professionalism Strong people and communication skills Essential Job Functions Responsibilities: Protecting POLM property, guest, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment Observing for signs of noncompliance or disorder and investigating disturbances Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences Report any suspicious incidents in detail Patrol the building and perimeter randomly and regularly Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates Watch alarm systems, detecting/emergency equipment Perform first aid or CPR Other duties as assigned Benefits: 401(k)/Retirement plan Paid time off NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Requirements Required Qualifications Trained security officer with a diploma (guard card) 2 years of proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position High school diploma Employment eligibility verification. Successful completion of background screening. Preferred Qualifications: CPR certification Physical Requirements: Environmental conditions are both inside and outside. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours in length. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Must be able to exert well-paced ability in a limited space and to reach other departments of the shelter on a timely basis. Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with other staff, guests, and supervisors. Vision occurs continuously, with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed. Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type, and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well. Have good vision with or without corrective lenses. Carrying/Lifting up to 50lbs Bending down and lifting is occasionally required. Exposure to some unavoidable communal living illnesses. Special Requirements: Must have or obtain slip-resistant shoes
