This temporary position is located in 417 N. Salisbury Street - Wake County with the NC State Highway Patrol. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.50 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Management Preferences: Description of Duties: The State Capitol Police Section is charged with the primary duty of providing security and law enforcement services to the government agencies with the NC State Capitol Complex and surrounding government facilities. This position will be responsible for providing security for staff and visitors at state-owned facilities and the protection of grounds and buildings and their contents against theft, fire, vandalism and unlawful entry. This position is also responsible for perfom1ing visitor security screenings at various state-owned facilities. This position is located in Raleigh, NC. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The work requires an individual who has a working knowledge of the standard safety surveillance and security practices and equipment. Some knowledge of standard methods of reporting and handling emergencies such as disturbances and fires, medical and security threats, ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, and ability to respond quickly and properly to emergency situations. Individuals in this position possess the ability to meet and deal with the public tactfully, courteously and effectively as well as be able to follow oral and written instructions.
