About the role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

What you’ll be doing

The focus of the role is to assist in the development and maintenance of security solutions which protect the CWA’s people, physical assets, information, and reputation within the SZC site. The role is site based and will operate at an operational level across work areas within the SZC site and its affiliated sites nearby.

  • Write and deliver the CWA’s security management plan, including sub-contracted suppliers.
  • Be empowered to influence decisions in matters pertaining to the security of CWA’s personnel and

assets.

  • Manage sufficient CWA’s security personnel to execute and validate the CWA’s security plans and

procedures to protect CWA’s people, property, information and the organisation’s reputation,

proportionate to the adversarial security risks associated with the scope of work.

  • Identify security threats, rank adversarial security risks, recognise security vulnerabilities and

develop cost- efficient arrangements in accordance with the SZC Security Vulnerability Assessment

process.

  • Be considered as Key Personnel in accordance with SZC’s organisational capability expectations

and subject to SZC’s review and written approval1.

  • Be an available SME security advisor to CWA’s leadership and work area management to help plan

onsite work and be a key participant in proactive decision making to design-out adversarial risk.

  • Support the CWA’s Human Resource (HR) team to process the personnel security element of the

work force mobilisation.

  • Support CWA’s Information Technology (IT) team to process the Cyber Security and Information

Assurance (CS & IA) protective measures.

  • Have sufficient knowledge of the CWA’s work execution plan, schedule, key milestones and critical

assets.

Who we’re looking for

  • Essential experience: operational policing experience, relevant military experience or a commercial

security experience in construction, engineering, oil & gas, mining, or similar industry, together with

relevant security qualifications

  • Intellectual depth – must be able to demonstrate commitment or willingness to continuous

professional development

  • Language skills: English (fluent spoken and written), articulate and confident presenter in meetings
  • Personal and professional integrity of the highest calibre; must undergo rigorous pre-employment

screening, site vetting process and successful site induction

  • An effective communicator with good interpersonal skills; must have a collaborative style and the

ability to influence across the operational areas of the project and achieve buy-in

  • must be a problem-solver and have the ability and experience of working with minimum supervision

and instruction; a self-starter who takes responsibility and shows initiative

  • must have good investigative skills including interviewing of witnesses and employees subject to

misconduct enquiries, managing integrity of evidence

  • IT Skills: must be computer literate, MS Office programs and ready ability to learn in-house systems
  • Be able to self-deliver and work independently, adjusting priorities in rapidly changing circumstances
