The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.
We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to integrate a Security Officer to support our growing teams.
The role of a Security Officer with the outlined responsibilities is to ensure the security, safety, and maintenance of our premises and off site facilities. The position will be responsible for conducting daily surveys, managing security systems, facilities, and safety protocols, with a focus on daily, weekly, and occasional tasks to ensure the well-being of personnel, property, and equipment in both indoor and outdoor areas, including during cold weather.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Proven experience in a security or similar role.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, gritting, and inspecting areas.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Good communication skills for reporting issues and interacting with the team.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a flexible attitude toward work hours, especially during weekends or unusual weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including early morning shifts during cold weather.
  • Physical ability to walk, inspect, and clear areas manually.
Responsibilities
  • Premises Survey & Lockdown - Perform daily surveys of the premises, ensuring that all areas and zones are securely locked down at the end of each day
  • Fire Door Checks - Ensure that all fire doors are properly closed and functioning during the daily lockdown procedures to comply with safety protocols.
  • Factory Equipment & Lights - Verify that all factory equipment is powered down and that lights are turned off at the end of each day to ensure safety and energy efficiency.
  • Alarm System Management - Set all area/zone alarms daily, ensuring that security systems are activated and operational.
  • Offsite Facility Walkthrough - Walk through all offsite areas, ensuring that plant equipment is switched off and complete a hot works check and sign-off before locking up the premises.
  • Weekend and Gym Operations - Oversee weekend security and maintenance tasks, with a focus on ensuring the gym is open and accessible to authorised individuals. Typically, Monday to Friday, the gym is locked at 7 pm as part of office shutdown; however, you may need to extend hours until 9 pm for local clubs using the facility. Saturdays Gym opens 6am to 12noon.
  • Car Park and Pedestrian Walkway Maintenance - Ensure car parks and key pedestrian walkways are salted and cleared during cold weather periods to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
  • Perimeter Fence Inspections - Inspect the outer perimeter fences weekly to ensure they are secure and in good condition.
  • Damage Reporting & Observations - Report any damage, safety hazards, or general observations to the management team for further action.
  • General Building Maintenance Assistance - Assist with general building maintenance duties where possible, supporting overall facility upkeep.
